Frequently Asked Questions

  • A 3D ultrasound creates three-dimensional images of your baby, allowing you to see detailed features like the baby’s face, hands, and feet. A 4D ultrasound adds the element of real-time movement, allowing you to see the baby moving in the womb.
  • The best time is typically between 26-32 weeks of pregnancy. This is when the baby has enough fat for clearer images, but is not too large that the images become unclear due to limited space in the womb.
  • Not always. Factors like the baby’s position, the amount of amniotic fluid, the size of the baby, and the mother’s body type can affect the clarity of the images. The baby may also be facing away or hiding, making it hard to get clear pictures.
  • A typical 3D/4D ultrasound session lasts 20-40 minutes, depending on factors like the baby’s position and cooperation.
  • Yes, you will receive printsdigital images, and video recordings of your session as keepsakes. The specific items included will depend on the package you choose.
  • The gender of the baby can often be determined from 15+ weeks of pregnancy. However, it depends on the baby’s position and the clarity of the images. If the baby is not in an optimal position, the gender may not be clear. If the baby doesn’t cooperate, we will gladly offer a free re-scan to try again.
  • The most ideal time for a clear 3D/4D ultrasound is between 26-32 weeks. Before 26 weeks, the baby may be too small, and after 32 weeks, there may be less amniotic fluid or the baby might be too large for optimal imaging.

  • Yes, 3D and 4D ultrasounds are completely safe. They use the same ultrasound technology as traditional 2D ultrasounds, which have been used for many years without any known risks to the mother or baby.
  • The quality of the images can be influenced by:
    • The baby’s position (e.g., facing the back or hiding in the womb).
    • The amount of amniotic fluid (less fluid can result in less clear images).
    • The amount of maternal body tissue (fat).
    • The size of the baby and the placenta’s position.
